About Jadavpur University

Jadavpur University, a State University of West Bengal, has been declared the Centre of Excellence in Mobile Computing and Communication by the University Grants Commission. The University has also been accredited with the status of five star by the National Assessment and Accreditation Committee.

The Engineering and the Science Departments have long been known for their excellence in path-breaking research. The Arts Department boasts many units of Special Assistance, including English and Comparative Literature, and has the only Department of Film Studies in the subcontinent.

About Impact Centre

Project Impact, a pilot project on manpower development in Electronics and Computers, with assistance from the World Bank and the Swiss Development Corporation, aimed at improving the quality of IT Education to meet the needs of the Industry.

Five premier institutions- Jadavpur University Kolkata, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IISc Bangalore and NEC Bangalore acted as Resource Centres of the project, providing professional support to the Participating Institutions. The Project Implementation Unit was located at the Department of Electronics (DOE), New Delhi.

Subsequently 'Project Impact' has been renamed 'Impact Centre'.
